Home to White Bear Township’s annual Township Day, Polar Lakes Park is a large community park in White Bear Township. It has many family-friendly features including a completely remodeled playground, grassy amphitheater, space to picnic and sports fields. It is located on Hammond Road and is just south of the Tamarack Nature Center portion of Bald Eagle-Otter Lakes Regional Park.

Polar Lakes Park playground
The playground equipment at Polar Lakes Park was replaced in 2023 and is now soaring, exciting, colorful and inclusive. The original little igloo has moved out but the signature white polar bear is still hanging around. Your kids will love the tall tube slides, merry-go-round and mini music playground. Other updates to the playground area of the park include a restroom building.
Summer entertainment in Polar Lakes Park
The park’s grassy amphitheater is the setting for free summer movies in the park. You can find this summer’s lineup on our complete calendar of TWIN CITIES FREE SUMMER MOVIES IN THE PARK. Typically there is one movie screened per month, June-September.
Historic White Bear Town Hall
The Cass Gilbert-designed White Bear Town Hall was moved to the in 2015 and restored by the White Bear Lake Historical Society. It is occasionally open to the public during special events.
More fun in the White Bear area
Polar Lakes Park is adjacent to the southwest corner of the Tamarack Nature Center portion of Bald Eagle-Otter Lakes Regional Park. For those more local to the White Bear area, the park is located on Hammond Road next to the Public Works. We made a day of it in the White Bear area. It was an easy bike ride between Polar Lakes Park and Tamarack Nature Center (DO NOT miss the awesome Discovery Hollow Nature Play Area if you prefer a more natural playground) and we had enough energy left over to bike into charming downtown White Bear Lake afterwards for a treat at Cup ‘n Cone.
