Lowell Park is one of the beautiful riverside parks in downtown Stillwater. It stretches north and south of the historic lift bridge, which is always fun to walk across and hope it “lifts” for boats to pass under. Family-friendly amenities include a gazebo overlooking the St Croix, an amphitheatre that hosts community events, open grass spaces and a Pedestrian Plaza for picnics, as well as a walkway with benches for walks along the river. The park has indoor restrooms. Stillwater’s annual Twinkle Festival and Tree Lighting includes family entertainment, costumed characters and has included a parade some years. The City of Stillwater has put together a self-guided historic walking tour that families may be interested in hiking. Each leg has a video that can be watched on your phone as you go or as a whole before or after the walk. These videos may be of most interest to adults and older kids. Lowell Park is the first stop of the tour and the video for this stop can be viewed on YouTube.
