Huber Park in downtown Shakopee has family friendly amenities that include a unique, fort-style playground, a nature area and trails, space for picnicking, and fishing along the Minnesota River. It has an amphitheater that hosts a performance series in the summer and free family entertainment. Off-street parking is available. Huber has a fun playground that was built by community volunteers in 2007. The colorful structures bring to mind castles, hideouts, and secret passageways. As cool as this playground is, we recommend visiting soon. Shakopee has plans to build a new “destination playground” as part of the park’s master plan that it adopted in the fall of 2019. The park shelter is available to rent for birthday parties and other private gatherings between late May and early October. Reservations can be made by the hour or by the day. On Thursdays during the summer months, the Park Performance Series features free family entertainment. Outdoor Movies in the Park are shown on select Saturdays. Bring your blanket or lawn chair. See our calendar for a full listing of events. Huber Park is an access point for the Minnesota Valley State Trail. This trail, which runs along the Minnesota River, is recommended for hiking, biking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and snowmobiling. In the Shakopee area, the trial is paved. If you go as far as Chaska, it will switch to natural surfaces. The Shakopee City counsel adopted a Master Plan for parks on August 20, 2019 that includes updates to Huber Park. The city plans to add a one-of-a-kind destination playground, a dog park, a veterans memorial and kayak launch. The city will also be making improvements to the amphitheater and expanding the green space under Highway 101. Other work will be done to maintain the park and manage environmental impacts.Related Articles:
