Website Kelley Park
Kelley Park in Apple Valley is not one of the city’s largest, but it packs in many kid-friendly features including Apple Valley’s only splash pad. You’ll also find a playground, picnic shelter, a large expanse of grassy lawn and a small bandstand used for concerts in the park. Kelley Park has a town square-style feel to it, surrounded by residential developments and topped by a pretty clock tower.
Kelley Park splash pad
Apple Valley’s splash pad has a cute animal theme, hoops of spraying water to dash through, and dump buckets. It is open during the summer months between 9am and 9pm and is weather dependent. The sprinklers can be turned on by pushing the “stoplight” at the south end or by stepping on the foot sensor at the north end. It’s just one of the many pads featured in our round up of Twin Cities Area Splash Pads & Wading Pools.
Aside from the standard playground equipment, Kelley Park has a few unique touches — a large xylophone a kid can use to compose their own music, a collection of boulders to hop across, and even a checkerboard built into a picnic tabletop.

Picnics & events at Kelley Park
The gazebo picnic shelter does not appear to be reservable so keep this in mind if you’re interested in hosting a birthday party or gathering in Kelley Park. Apple Valley does have a Chuckwagon Barbecue available to rent. It cooks up to 100 hamburgers at one time on the 24-by-72-inch cooking surface and is portable. The grill is available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis within any City of Apple Valley park. For reservations and more information, please call (952) 953-2300.
Summer Music at Kelley Park
Come summer, Kelley Park is the home to an annual concert series featuring a variety of styles on Friday evenings June through August. The Kelley Park summer concert series is presented by the Apple Valley Arts foundation and schedules can be found on their website. We also try to track concert lineups in our calendar of TWIN CITIES FREE SUMMER MUSIC IN THE PARKS.
