Every Saturday this summer kids can help on a the farm — poke around in the barn, meet farm animals, and even roll up your sleeves to help in the garden (Three Rivers recommends participants wear farm clothes). NOTE: While you can visit the park anytime, special events like this are the only chance you’ll get to explore the barn. Reserve your spot at the link below. Cost is $6 per person.

Seasonal farm activities at Gale Woods Farm

Activities could include collecting eggs, feeding sheep, “milking” a mock cow, helping out in the kitchen, and seasonal chores like collecting maple syrup.

Special hands-on programs

On select weekends families can choose to participate in an optional make-and-take fiber craft available for a small extra fee. Crafts are usually around $3-$6 and may incorporate wool from Gale Wood’s sheep.

Self-guided anytime exploration

If you can’t make it to one of the farm programs, stop over for a self-guided walk around the grounds; Gale Woods is not only a working farm, it is also a public park boasting over 400 acres, and welcomes visitors. Pack a picnic and explore the trails, pastures and barnyard at your own pace. You might see cows, sheep, chickens, dogs and cats. You can even bring your poles and go fishing poles or bikes.
