The Washington County Historic Courthouse (sometimes called the Stillwater Historic Courthouse or just the Historic Courthouse) sits on the bluffs above downtown Stillwater and the St. Croix River Valley. The courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Find the registry, photos and more information here.  The courthouse offers year-round community events, such as tours, Victorian teas, Holiday celebrations and ice cream socials in the summer. All of these events focus on historical aspects of the area. When visiting with kids, you can go on the Courthouse Scavenger Hunt, play dress up with vintage clothes and use the interactive biography boxes and timeline. Stop by the kid’s corner to touch and feel courthouse artifacts, and stamp a county seal. Kids can even make their own comic strip or write a story after learning the story of the courthouse mice, Gus & Sig and Winfield the Cat. Download coloring pages of the courthouse here. Guided tours are free, but donations are suggested. Tour times and registration information can be found here. Visitors can take a self-guided tour during any open hours of the courthouse. Find a self-guided outdoor tour online here.Community Events at Stillwater Historic Courthouse
