Tricia and the Toonies has been entertaining kids in the Twin Cities for a quarter of a century. Musician Tricia Haynes, Actor Pete Cappello, and the troupe of puppets that form the group are now seeing the original fans bring their own children to shows. In 1991, Tricia, a seasoned musician, was asked to help make a live musical show for children. This led her to realize her calling in creating children’s songs that promote kindness and family values. She worked with artists to create a troupe of puppets that she had dreamed up. Pete joined her as the puppeteer and keyboard player. The combination of Pete’s improv and keyboard skills and Tricia’s songs and puppets was a hit. Besides The Toonies Family Show, Haynes has also created, directed, and co-starred in three environmental show performances with Elmo from Sesame Street. These performances led to the creation of The Toonies ENVIRO-Show, which she has performed all over the country. Venues can also book The Fab 50’s Show. While I prefer Tricia’s original material, she also does a great job incorporating classic songs everyone can recognize. See the Toonies website or our Family Fun Calendar for upcoming shows.
