Organized in 1969, the Scott County Historical Society received the Stans Museum building as a gift in 1994. This beautiful 1908 Dutch Colonial building is located in downtown Shakopee near the library. The museum’s collection includes books, photographs, artifacts, oral histories, newspapers and other material limited to items related to Scott County and its residents. The historical society offers regular family-friendly programs, including the monthly Kids Kraft program. Kids Kraft is usually held on the last Saturday of each month, but skips if it coincides with a holiday. The program, aimed at kids ages 4-8, lasts approximately 45 minutes and includes a craft and a related story. Registration is required for this free program. Guided tours can be scheduled as part of your museum visit for no extra charge and can include hands-on activities. Tours require advance reservations. Call 952.445.0378. This museum has participated in Smithsonian Museum Day in past years.Kids Kraft at Stans Museum
