Shakopee Ice Arena is an indoor ice skating facility that was built in 2016 and is located next to the Shakopee Community Center. The arena holds two sheets of ice and provides locker rooms, a pro shop and seating for up to 900 spectators in the main rink’s bleachers and up to 335 for the smaller rink. Open skating is available at scheduled times throughout the year. Members of the community center can skate free during these times, or it is included with a daily pass to the community center. There is a small admission for others (see above). There are also open hockey and developmental hockey times for those who want to work with their sticks. For skating with preschoolers, look for little tyke skate times for ages 6 and under with a parent. This skate time is free, including skate rental for this program. This is not always offered, call the arena for more details. The Hockey Store at the arena offers skate sharpening for $5.00/pair and skate rental for $3.00/pair. You can also purchase skate laces, tape, mouth guards and other items. For hockey classes, camps, lessons and leagues, search the city’s activity registration page. Families can rent the ice by the hour for birthday parties and other private events. Prices range from $170-$220/hour. Learn more at Rink Finder.Open Skating at Shakopee Ice Arena
