SandVenture Aquatic Park is an outdoor water playground located at Lions Park in Shakopee. A hybrid between a pool and a beach, it’s chlorinated, but surrounded by sand for the ultimate beach-going experience. The park is home to two 12-drop slides and a 300-foot waterslide. Other amenities include a concession stand and locker rooms for changing. This is a guarded beach with Red Cross trained lifeguards. Open daily from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. during the summer months, you can pay anywhere from $3-$7 per person for a daily pass. They also offer season passes and punch cards. Note: The park closes for inclement weather and low attendance. If the temperature is below 65° at 11 a.m. or attendance is low, the Park Department may choose to close the pool. If weather is a question, call ahead: 952-233-9502. The Shakopee Parks department offers parent child tot times. While this was a pre-register program in past years, it appears to be a drop-in program in 2019. During these sessions, parents can bring their infants and toddlers to play in the sand and swim in the zero-depth entry pool before the park opens to the public. The features geared toward bigger kids, such as slides and diving board will be closed. While there will be lifeguards on duty, adult supervision is required and parents must be in the water with their children. Which can be difficult for a single parent with multiple preschoolers. Since adults are free, you may want to bring along help. Birthday party packages are available starting at $175 for 12 children and 2 adults. This package includes admission, shelter use, and a park party host. Additional guests and lunch can be added for additional fees. Call (952) 233-3840 for additional details and to reserve a date.
