Rumriver Art Center is a North Metro non-profit organization offering classes, camps, and community events for artists of all ages — from family and homeschool programs to events for older adults. Classes include a variety of art mediums, including drawing, acrylic painting, watercolor, wheel throwing pottery, hand-built pottery/sculpture, art sketchbook/art history, and mixed media. Many of their classes can be attended as a family or parent-child pair. The art center offers Free Family Art Days when families can express their creativity with a free themed art class. While Family Art Days are free, reservations are required for these events and donations are appreciated. They offer two one-hour sessions to choose. The first beginning at 12pm and the second at 1:30pm. These classes are best for ages four and up. Besides the Free Family Art Days, look for free art classes through Anoka County Libraries, art fairs, and Art in the Park events. Families can throw art themed birthday parties at Rumriver. The party guests will leave with their own art creation (except pottery, which needs to be fired and picked up later). Parties include an art project of your choosing and leave time for cake and refreshments, which you provide. Find more birthday party ideas like this: Art-Themed Birthday Parties.
