Ramsey County Library is part of the MELSA system and has seven locations: Library cards also provide access to the RCL’s extensive e-reading collection. According to its July/August 2017 Newsletter, RCL has over 21,000 ebooks, almost 7,000 e-audibooks and 224 e-magazine subscriptions. STEM Kits are available to borrow and are geared toward children ages 3-7. Check them out, read about a STEM topic, and then try related experiments at home. Think of them like an alternative to those expensive monthly mail-order boxes. Subjects include: magnets, motion, buoyancy, length, weight, volume and capacity, shapes and colors, patterns, and counting and numbers. Like books, these have a 3-week loan period with renewals allowed if there is no waiting list on the item. RCL offers regular Family Storytime and Baby & Me Storytime sessions, as well as special storytimes and story time guest stars. Find a complete list HERE. Visit any Ramsey County Library on the first Saturday of every month and let your kids (17 and under) “Read Down” their library fines. They’ll earn $1 off their fines for every 15 minutes spent reading (or being read to) in the library and you’ll get a little bit of relaxing reading time yourself! Anyone in the 7-County metropolitan area is eligible to get a library card from Ramsey County. If you are an adult or teen over 15, you just need to bring in a picture ID. Kids 15 and under need to bring in a parent or guardian with a valid picture ID.
