Nadia Cakes is a bakery with two Twin Cities locations — Maple Grove and Woodbury. Abby Jimenez opened Nadia Cakes in 2009 with a newborn, a 1-year-old and a 2-year-old, all in diapers. By 2012, it was successful enough that her husband Carlos left his job to take on the CFO position. Besides the two Twin Cities locations, there is now also a location in Palmdale California.

In Their Own Words:

“Nadia Cakes started with a passion for baking, a love for beautiful desserts and sheer chance. From an early age Abby always loved to bake. Her love for cake baking gradually took center stage and her coveted recipes became the expectation of every family gathering. While pregnant with her third baby, Abby found herself stuck at home on a lengthy maternity leave. She was looking for something to fill the days and she thought it would be fun to learn to decorate her children’s birthday cakes so she decided to take some basic cake decorating classes at a local craft store. She left the classes without finishing to have her baby. This is the only formal training Abby ever received.”
