Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies (“GTCYS”) is a program designed to inspire the orchestral experience for young musicians (ages 8-18) with a conviction that music nourishes the mind, body, and spirit. GTCYS has 10 different orchestras for kids of every proficiency level. Many concerts are free and family friendly and are performed at different locations around the Twin Cities. Find the full schedule on the GTCYS website or watch for them on our Family Fun Calendar. They also recommend Subscribing to their YouTube channel and turning on notifications so that you get notified when the video performance premieres – a fun way to see concerts in your living room. If you have a child who is interested in orchestra, you can schedule a visit to watch a rehearsal. GTCYS believes that rehearsals are “where the real magic happens” and that watching the conductors “inspire and transform” the musicians can be informative. To learn more and schedule a visit, contact Miranda Bryan at 651.602.6807. GTCYS offers an engaging summer orchestra program. Participants will have a fun and challenging orchestral experiences for string, woodwind, brass, and percussion students of all abilities that ends in a public performance in mid-July. Note: the orchestra offers needs-based scholarships for their summer camp programs. Find up-to-date details in our summer camp guide, where we update dates and prices annually.Articles Featuring GTCYS
