The park has plenty of green space for spreading a blanket as well as designated picnic spots and grills available for public use.

Excelsior Commons Beach

This cozy little beach is free to visit, however, you may have to pay to park. Anne lists this beach in her Top Twin Cities Beaches, Parks  and Playgrounds. Among other perks, it has a nearby playground.
