My daughter absolutely loves cats but mean old mom isn’t up for having a pet. Our solution? We book an hour at Café Meow. This sweet rescue coffee shop gives us a feline fix without extra responsibility. Kids 7+ (with a parent) can play with the kitties and sip a warm beverage.

Visiting The Cat Café with Kids

Kids Ages 7+

Bigger kids, ages 7 and up, can visit with a parent who actively supervises. It is a good idea to go over the rules with them before attending.

  • There is an entryway to the Cat Lounge. Your party needs to close the first door before opening he next to help prevent cat escapes.
  • Remember to use the provided hand sanitizer before and after visiting with the cats.
  • Do NOT pick up cats in the lounge.
  • DO pick up and return any cat to the lounge who has escaped.
  • Let sleeping cats sleep, You may pet them softly and take photos, though.
  • Be nice to the cats. Don’t poke, pull, push, or chase a cat. And use your indoor voices. Seriously. These are very sweet cats, but they are all a bit on edge in comparison to your settled house cats.
  • No outside treats allowed, but you can bring in your purchased drinks.
  • Do NOT feed the cats — except cat treats purchased at the Cafe’. They limit the amount they sell each day, so maybe schedule an early visit if feeding the cats treats is important to your child.
  • Do NOT touch the cat food or water! Yuck.
  • No Standing on furniture. Unless you are a cat.
  • Don’t forget that cats can bite and scratch, especially when they feel harassed or unsafe. Back off when they don’t want attention.

Kids Ages 6 and Under

Little kids (age 6 and under) are only allowed in the cat lounge during private events and must have 2 adults supervising them.
