Browndale Park in St. Louis Park has family-friendly amenities that include a playground, space for picnicking, paved trails, sports fields and courts and an ice rink with a warming house in the winter. The park building and shelters offer free wi-fi, and there are also public restrooms and drinking fountains.

6 Things For Families at Browndale Park in Summer

  1. Play a game of kickball. Bring along a playground ball and get a game of kickball going together on one of the baseball diamonds. Of course, you could bring your baseball gear to get in the some practice or just run the bases for fun.
  2. Play a game of HORSE. Bring a basketball to practice shots. Player one shoots a basket and player two has to try to make the same shot. If player one misses, it is player two's turn to go first. Keep score by assigning a letter of H.O.R.S.E each time someone misses. Whoever spells HORSE first loses.
  3. Go for a walk together. The trails are paved, making them stroller or trike friendly.
  4. Have a picnic. There is plenty of green space and picnic tables for an outdoor meal. 
  5. Bring a book. Relax and read while the kids play on the playground.
  6. Roll down the big sledding hill. You don't have to wait until winter to enjoy big hills, run up and roll down.

  1. Winter at Browndale ParkLace up the skates and get on the ice. Saint Louis Park maintains a both figure skating and hockey rinks at this park.
  2. Go sledding. There is also a sledding hill at this park.
  3. Warm up with a cup of cocoa. This is one of two parks that sells hot cocoa during warming house hours for $2/cup. The warming house is open from 4-8pm on weekdays (8:30 on Friday); 10am to 8:30pm on Saurdays and noon to 7 pm on Sundays. Find special winter break and holiday hours here.
