Running Park is a 10 acre park in Bloomington on East Old Shakopee Road. Family friendly amenities include a playground, softball and space for picnics in the summer and ice rinks in the winter months. The hilly terrain also makes good sledding. This park also has off-street parking.

Note that the playground at this park is quite close to the pond. Parents of small escape artists may want to position themselves strategically.

Ice Skating at Running Park

The City of Bloomington maintains two hockey rinks and a general rink at this location. This is one of four parks in Bloomington that is open and staffed daily. The rinks are lit after dark. Open hours are 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays; Noon to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and school release days; and 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays. Special hours are noon to 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve (12/24) and New Years Eve (12/31).

Recent Improvements

The playground equipment at this location was replaced in 2017, combining the two playgrounds into one. Picnic tables and park benches were installed and the bituminous trail modified.
