Columbia Park, best known for its sledding hill, is on the northern border of Minneapolis next to Columbia Heights. Families can also find a playground, an archery range, foot golf and paved paths. It is home to the Northeast Minneapolis Iris Garden. There is also a picnic area and grill. In the winter, look for a Cross-Country Ski Trail.

Sledding
This park has one of Minneapolis Park’s suggested sledding hills. It is a steeper slope and a longer climb. It is a good hill for older kids, but you may want to find a less steep slope for your toddlers. However, if you have a mixed group, you can find less-steep directions for littler kids while the big kids do the steeper slope. The video below shows Columbia Park:
Cross Country Skiing
This park has a cross-country ski trail. You will need your own equipment. Note that all Minneapolis Park ski trails require a Ski Trail Pass through the Loppet Foundation (separate from the MN DNR’s ski pass).
Birthday Parties at Columbia Park
This park has one picnic shelters available to rent for birthdays and other events. It will hold up to 200 people and is available between April 15th and October 15th. Permits are available by the half day (9-3 or 4-10) or for a full day. Reservations can be obtained by calling 612-230-6400 during business hours, online or in person.
