The State Theater is one of the beautiful old theaters in downtown Minneapolis that is managed by the Hennepin Theatre Trust (“HTT”). It generally hosts regional and national shows coming through the Twin Cities. Upcoming shows can be found here. Unless otherwise noted, children must be at least age 5 to attend any show at the State Theater. Many Broadway shows are not appropriate for smaller kids and parents will want to decide for themselves when they want to bring their kids to a show. Tickets are required for everyone. Find Upcoming Family-Friendly Shows on our Performing Arts Calendar. With younger children, you may get a chance to visit when one of their favorite television shows has a traveling LIVE program. The pictures are from a Nick Jr. LIVE event. Older kids may enjoy some of the concerts making their way through the area. Most of the Broadway shows go through the Orpheum (also managed by the HTT). Check the HTT’s Plan Your Visit page for a list of nearby parking options, restaurants and hotels. Order tickets through the State Theater’s Box Office Here.
