West Bush Lake Park is on the west side of Bush Lake in Bloomington. If you are looking for Bush Lake Beach, you’ll want to know that it is slightly more than a mile away and across the lake. However, if you don’t mind hiking a mile each way, you can save $8 on parking by taking advantage of the free west-side parking lot. The parking lot was recently updated in 2017.
The west side is the more rustic of the Bush Lake parks. Its family-friendly amenities include a playground, volleyball court, canoeing, a fishing pier and a space for picnics, including scattered tables and shelters. The park has a lovely tree-lined biking/walking path with benches and picnic tables along the path for resting and picnicking. The picnic shelter has seasonal restrooms available.
Playground at West Bush Lake Park
The small playground near Shelter 1 has a log cabin tree house theme. It has a woodchip floor and is shaded by mature trees. There is a small picnic table where parents can sit while kids play. This playground is a short hike north from the parking lot. If you walk south, you’ll hit Shelter 2.
