Located next to the high school, Water Tower Park in St. Anthony Village is a pretty average suburban park with typical green and beige playground equipment. The equipment is large and spaced liberally for running in between. It offers an appropriate amount of risk and open ended play opportunities for enjoyment by a variety of ages. Benches are spread around the play are in both sunny and shady areas. One thing we love is that the entire playground is fenced in, making it easier to keep track of multiple small children.

The park is close enough to Central Park (divided only by municipal buildings) that they could be considered different areas of the same large park.

Water Tower Park in Saint Anthony Village, Minnesota
The playground is always well maintained

6 Ideas for Family Fun at Water Tower Park

  1. Play on the playground. This park is mainly a neighborhood playground, so this is the main reason to visit the park.
  2. Bring a playground ball to play Around the World or HORSE on the half-court basketball court.
  3. Pack a picnic for an outdoor meal.
  4. Bring your skateboards or scooters.  St. Anthony’s Skatepark is technically part of Central Park, but it is closer to the Water Tower playground than central playground.
  5. Try Tennis. Bring some balls and rackets and teach the kids how to play. This court is used by the high school for practices and meets, so it may not always be available.
  6. Take a walk down to the Central Park playground and splash pad.

This playground sits in a nice quiet neighborhood (excepting school traffic). St. Anthony meticulously maintains all of its parks, including this one. You’ll find it very clean. The playground provides plenty of shade, benches for parents and is fenced enough to keep toddlers from running away.
