Sunset Pond is a 100-acre, community park in Burnsville. The majority of that 100 acres is the pond and the trail that loops it. Other family friendly amenities include a playground, picnic areas (both covered and uncovered) and a shelter. The play equipment is standard plastic and metal on a wood mulch lot.

  1. Bring skates, scooters or strollers along for a walk along the paved trail.
  2. Pack a picnic and enjoy a lunch-and-play date
  3. Run, climb and slide on the playground. There is plenty of room to run.
  4. Watch ducks on the pond.
  5. In the winter, snowshoe along the park path.

Sunset Pond’s Trail

The trail has a hard service and is 1.65 miles long. It is considered an easy terrain and loops through prairie restoration areas. In the summer it is used for walking, rollerblading and mountain biking. In the winter, it is available for snowshoeing, or hiking.

Birthday Parties at Sunset Pond

The park shelter can be rented for birthday parties and other private events. It holds up to 30 people. Monday through Thursday, the space can be rented by the hour with a two-hour minimum. Residents receive a slight discount over non-residents. Weekends require a full day commitment. Call the park for more details. Or reserve the shelter here.
