Named after Ray Stockman, the “Father of Golden Valley Parks“, Stockman Park is a small neighborhood park — less than 2 acres — on the northeast side of Golden Valley. The park has amenities for families that include playground equipment, lighted game squares, and sports courts and fields. In the winter, the city maintains an outdoor skating rink. This park only has street parking.
Summer at Stockman Park
Enjoy summer with these fun activities:
Play on the Playground. The playground is compact, but well-maintained and contains the playground essentials including a climbing structure with slides and monkey bars. A stand-alone digger and rocking toy as well as a swing set.
Basketball. The basketball court was updated in 2019. Bring a ball to practice shots, play a pick-up game or challenge your kids to a game of HORSE.
Softball / Baseball / Kickball. Bring your own gear to play a game, practice skills or just run around the bases and slide into home for fun!
Play a Game of Four Square. Golden Valley has game squares at most of its parks. Stockman’s squares are in area of the park that is lit in the evenings.
Structured Playground Activities. The parks department offers Summer Playground Adventures at various parks in the summer. schedules are listed at the beginning of the summer.
Winter at Stockman Park
Weather permitting, the city maintains an outdoor rink at this location in the winter. Skating season is usually mid-December through mid-February. This location does not have a warming shelter. Click the link for a list of all Twin Cities Outdoor Skating Rinks.
