Smith Park is a 25 acre park in Bloomington. Family-friendly amenities include a playground, sports courts and fields and a fishing pier. The park offers off-street parking and seasonal restrooms. This park participates in Bloomington’s summer Mobile Recreation Center program.

  1. Bring a kickball and play a game on the baseball field
  2. Play some one-on-one on the basketball court. It has been resurfaced in spring of 2023.
  3. Take advantage of the fishing pier to try some pond dipping.

Smith Park Playground Updates

The City of Bloomington began demolition of the old Smith Park playground in August 2023 and will replace it with Bloomington’s first challenge course playground. The project should be complete in fall 2023, but we’ll probably see a Grand Opening ceremony in the spring of 2024.

Fishing at Smith Pond

Smith Pond is one the most popular city-owned fishing ponds in Bloomington. The pond covers 7 acres.  There is a pier available for fishing and the pond contains black bullhead, black crappie, bluegill, hybrid sunfish, pumpkinseed, brook stickleback. The Minnesota DNR has designated this a Fishing in the Neighborhood pond, which means it is considered a good place to bring children and beginners,
