Located just east of Shakopee Junior High School’s athletic field, Scenic Heights Park is an 11 acre neighborhood park in Shakopee with family-friendly amenities that include a playground and space to picnic. In the winter the park maintains an unpaved hockey rink. The park is also a connection to Vierling Greenway, a paved trail that runs through Shakopee to Tahpah Park. This park has onsite restrooms inside the building (however a facility key is needed) and a small, 15-car parking lot. Originally built in 1991, the city has begun the planning stages of redevelopment for this park, which is scheduled to be completed in 2021 GPS Note: When searching for this park with GPS, use the address, not the name. Google Maps will take you to an office park of the same name 10 miles away in Eden Prairie. The city rents the park’s enclosed shelter for small private events, such as birthday parties. The shelter has electricity and two to three picnic tables. This park, which was built 20 years ago, has been slated for updates. The city approved a multi-generational concept design in February of 2021. Work will begin with playground updates in 2021.
