Savage Community Park is a 55 acre park that serves as Savage’s sports park and is home to the McColl Pond Environmental Learning Center. Family-friendly amenities include a nature area, a playground,  a skateboard park and sports courts and fields. There is also a fishing pier on McColl Pond.

McColl Pond Environmental Learning Center

The McColl Pond Environmental Learning Center (MPELC) is an outdoor classroom and nature observation areas. Set in a 10 acre native prairie, natural elements include rain gardens, butterfly gardens and mature trees. It offers an outdoor classroom and observation area and hosts a variety of community events, including summer music and story times.

The sustainable building boasts walls made of wheat products and a green roof and uses solar and geothermal energy.

The Savage Sports Center

The park’s sports center is an indoor athletic facility from November through April and outdoor sports fields May through October. Batting cages can be rented by the hour.

Fishing at McColl Pond

According to the DNR, the 22-acre McColl Pond is stocked with Bluegill, Black Crappie, Largemouth Bass, and Channel Catfish. Find more ideas for fishing here:

Birthday Parties Savage Community Park

Both McColl Pond and the Sports Center can be rented for private events, like birthday parties.

Coming Updates

Savage plans to add 8 pickleball courts to this park in 2021.  The will also be adding netting to the ball field to stop foul balls from reaching the spectator area.

New Play Area:

Savage will also be rebuilding the playground that burned last June and hopefully reopening by summer.  The new playground will have a nature theme and a safe rubber floor.
