Managed by Anoka County, Rum River Central Regional Park is a 400-acre park with scenic river, prairie and woodland habitats. Family-friendly amenities include a playground, campsites and space to picnic. Outdoor recreation opportunities include canoeing/kayaking, biking, hiking, and cross country skiing. There are also horse-back riding trails. This park is a good option for viewing fall colors in the Twin Cities area. While there is no admission to enter the park on foot, there is a vehicle fee to enter Anoka County Parks. A daily pass is $6/day and an annual pass is $30. Pay as you enter or pick one up at any Anoka County License Center. Good to know: Anoka parks has a reciprocal agreement with Washington and Carver County parks. Buy an annual permit from any of these counties and it is good for entrance to the other two counties’ parks. Anoka County suggests this is a good park for fishing. However, the Minnesota DNR shares that while there is a lot of shoreline at this park, much of it is difficult to access. The DNR offers other options for fishing the Rum River here.
