Rice Recreation Center in St. Paul has indoor amenities that include meeting and game rooms, a tech lab, a dance room and a kitchen. Outside this park hosts a playground and sports courts and fields.

North End Community Center to Replace Rice Recreation Center in 2024

The City of Saint Paul will begin construction on the North End Community Center (NECC) in 2023. It will replace Rice Recreation Center, which is currently located within Wellstone Elementary. Saint Paul Parks and Recreation tells us that the new 25,000 square foot building and 6-acre outdoor space will include multi-purpose community rooms, teaching kitchen, gymnasium, dance studio, fitness room, multi-use artificial turf field, playground, accessibility improvements, underground stormwater treatment, and more!

Rec Tech Lab at Rice Recreation Center Teen Center

The Teen Center at this location will be one of six St. Paul Rec Centers with new modern computer facilities was installed in 2019. Community members can use the lab to develop computer literacy and skills.

Hazel Park Recreation Center was also be updated in 2019. Four other rec centers were updated in 2018, including Martin Luther King Recreation Center, El Rio Vista Recreation Center, Jimmy Lee Recreation Center, Dayton’s Bluff Recreation Center. St. Paul Parks and Recreation will also host training sessions in these recreation centers.
