The City of Shakopee completed the first phase of Quarry Lake Park in 2016. This 111-acre park is mainly nature areas and trails. Other amenities include an overlook, a pedestrian bridge, a gazebo and a fishing pier. The city recommends this park for water-based activities, including watching the Shakopee-Prior Lake Shockwaves Water Ski team, trout fishing, canoeing and kayaking.

The Shakopee-Prior Lake Water Ski Association

Shakopee and Prior Lake’s water ski team, Shockwaves, performs public shows on select summer evenings on Quarry Lake. Visit their website for more information. Gianna has included these performances in our full Guide to Summer Water Sports.

Mountain Bike Trail of Quarry Lake Park

Shakopee has recently built a new mountain bike park located adjacent to Xcel Energy’s Blue Lake power plant on the south side of Quarry Lake. This mountain biking course covers more ground than a previously planned bike trail and consists loops with riding options for beginners through advanced riders. The single-track style course will weave between the existing tree cover and a larger prairie area, taking advantage of natural and man-made topography. There is also a pump track and several skills areas. The trails are free to use; please observe all posted rules and wear a helmet.

  • A picnic shelter with benches and grills
  • A rope-based climbing playground and an open lawn, and
  • A small pump track to compliment the mountain biking course.
