Details:

Pioneer Park is the oldest park in Newport and has family, friendly amenities that include a playground, space for picnics, including pavilions and grills, and sports courts. This park has some fun features that many modern parks have abandoned, including a merry-go-round and barrel run. The jungle gym equipment is a good size and, although actually a standard metal and plastic equipment, it has a pioneer feel to it because of the wood-coloring. The playground floor is sand.

Also located at Pioneer Park is the Newport Heritage Monument, which is displayed by a large rock and the City of Newport’s seal.  Enclosed in that area is a time capsule to be opened in the year 2100.
