Distad Park and Greenway (fka North Creek Park) in Farmington has family-friendly amenities that include a playground, sports fields and courts, a hard surface trail and natural areas. In the winter, this park maintains an ice rink and warming house. The park has off-street parking and seasonal restrooms.

5 Ideas for Family Fun at Distad Park

  1. Run wild on the playground. The large playground contains standard modern equipment. Features include a balance equipment, climbing walls, monkey bars, a balance beam and slides. There is a separate swing set area and both areas have wood chip flooring.
  2. Bring your sports equipment and practice together
  3. Take a family hike. The paths are hard surface — bring along strollers, kids bikes and scooters. Leashed dogs are also welcome.
  4. Ice Skate during the winter months.
  5. Explore pond life. This is definitely a parent-child activity that requires adult supervision. You may want to bring along some Pond Dipping Supplies.

Community Events at Distad Park

This park traditionally participates in Farmington’s summer Movie in the Park program and the Puppet Wagon program.

The Name Change to Distad Park

In April of 2021, Farmington’s City Council voted to rename North Creek Park to Distad Park and Greenway in honor of Randy Distad, who retired that month after nineteen years of service as Farmington Parks and Recreation Director.
