Marcy Park is a charming little park east of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis.  The serene atmosphere of this park is perfect for a quiet family picnic. Located behind a student housing complex, the park has a playground with tot lot, picnic area and a good size green space. It was recently updated to add a basketball court, a bee lawn, a hammocking grove and a dog park.

7 Ideas for Family Fun at Marcy Park

  1. Play traditional outdoor games on the lawn.
  2. Pack a picnic for an outdoor lunch while the kids play.
  3. Run wild on the playground and tot lot
  4. Challenge your kids to a family game of basketball;
  5. Run the family dog
  6. Practice roller-skating or riding a bike on the updated paths
  7. Bring your hammock for a nap. Hammocks are allowed in all Minneapolis parks, but Marcy Park has a built in hammocking grove with posts to string your hammocks between.

Recent Updates to the Park

Construction began on Marcy Park in the summer of 2022 with a grand re-opening celebration in spring of 2023.  These updates have doubled the family fun opportunities at this small park, including a new dog park, a full basketball court, and upgraded paths and benches.
