Horton Park is a small, three-acre park in Saint Paul designed to be picnic recreation friendly. Besides green space and plenty of space for picnics, the park is a mini arboretum. Most of the trees, planted in 1978, have matured and you can find over 60 species of trees, a native oak savanna and prairie gardens on the grounds. While not on the grand scale of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum or as exotic as Como Zoo’s Conservatory, this is a good park to visit if your children have an interest in trees or leaves because posts are placed throughout the park identifying trees and providing information. Horton Park has participated in Saint Paul’s Fitness in the Park Program.
