Griggs Park in St. Paul has family friendly amenities including a recently renovated playground, sports fields and courts and a picnic area. In the winter families can skate and sled.

Nature Themed Play Area at Griggs Park

As part of a recent renovation of the Rec Center, a large, nature-themed play area was added. While this is a nature-theme it’s not really a nature play area like Anne has written about in the past. The playground equipment is standard plastic park equipment with logs and rocks made of plastic as the theme.

Sledding and Outdoor Skating Rink at Griggs Park

Sledding and Outdoor Skating Rink at Griggs ParkThe City of St. Paul suggests Griggs for sledding and categorizes it as a gentle slope. Sledding is free and open to the public at St. Paul Parks. Find safety tips for sledding on the city’s website.

Griggs has an outdoor rink, but no warming house. Rinks in St. Paul Parks are also free and open when weather and ice quality cooperate. Find up-to-date information on St. Paul Outdoor Rinks Here.

Non-Profit Partners at Griggs Park

In an effort to control costs, St. Paul has re-partnered some of its recreation centers with non-profits. While the St. Paul website still lists Leonardo’s Basement as the non-profit partner utilizing Griggs Recreation Center, they have moved to Minneapolis. St. Paul Urban Tennis (SPUT) filled the space for a short time, but have moved to Eastview Recreation Center and no longer occupy Griggs Recreation Center either.
