Golden Valley Lions Park has family friendly amenities that includes a playground, lighted game squares and lighted trails, space for picnicking with grills and sports courts and fields. In the winter, this park has skating rinks with a warming house. In 2014, neighborhood families helped select the features of the playground that was built later the same year. The playground uses bright, primary colors and has a wood-chip floor. Features include a stump climber, wobble sphere, track ride, tube slide, and a curly-Q slide. There is both a big kid area and a tot lot. During the summer, various parks in Golden Valley, including Lions Park, will host puppet shows from mid-June to early August. If the weather is bad, shows will be canceled, and there are no shows the week of Independence Day. Find up-to-date information about puppet wagons: Twin Cities Summer Family Community Entertainment. The parks department maintains outdoor ice skating rinks with a warming house at this park. Outdoor skating season runs from mid-December to late February — weather dependent.
