Fred Richards Park in Edina was formerly Fred Richards Golf Course. According to the City of Edina, the 43-acre park is almost double the size of Centennial Park and it will become a multi-use park for a variety of year-round activities. It is currently still under construction, but you can follow the progress at the Park’s Master Plan page.

Currently the newly completed Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail winds through the park.

Fred Richards Park is a good place to connect to the Nine Mile Creek Bike Trail

New Playground for Fred Richards Park

The first phase of the new park will include a new playground near the east entrance of the park, along with walking paths and pond vegetation restoration. Construction on the playground is expected to begin in Fall 2019.

Good event June 3, 2018 for trail opening as this participant would say, and as must be to be forward looking and to appreciate the park and inclusion of Edina on the bike trail map, as well as kudos for the creek and protected environs and those who would like Nine Mile to be perhaps nearing Minnehaha status all the way to the Minnesota River, but what the heck was the name of the golf course before it was Fred Richards where I got my first real golf clubs after my ChiChi Rodriguez junior set?
Thanks and go Three Rivers and the park community in attendance this 6-3-18 for the trail ribbon cutting. My parents have those clubs if not sold at a garage sale up north. I am forward looking about developments in the area. Thank you. What was that old GC name? Thanks.

    1. We’re glad you enjoyed the trail opening. While it sounds like a lot of people still miss the golf course, I’m excited to see what comes of this new park, too.

Hope you have some luck finding those old golf clubs!
