Folwell Park is one of the largest parks in North Minneapolis. Family friendly amenities include a new playground and tot lot, a wading pool, space for picnics, biking and walking paths and sports courts and fields. There are restroom facilities and a drinking fountain on site. This is one of the parks where MPRB recently installed a Little Free Library.

Folwell Recreation Center

This Community Center is air-conditioned. Families can find a variety of camps, activities, events, and field trips at this location. Indoor amenities include board games, foosball, ping pong and active games. It also has a computer lab.

Folwell Park Wading Pool

Minneapolis wading pools  are unguarded and open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.

MPRB is planning on converting the wading pool — which is one of the older round pools built in the 1960s — into an  an extension of the all-wheel park being built in 2024. They plan to build a new pool, but MPRB hasn’t provided a timeline for these changes.

Folwell Park Playground Improvement Project

MPRB built a new playground in October of 2019. The also relocated athletic field and updated tennis courts. The tennis courts were reopened in early August 2020. The final steps to that phase, which included adding lighting to the new field and paths, were finished during the fall of 2020. The next step will be to build a an all-wheel track, plant native and plants and new park amenities in 2024,

Birthday Parties at Folwell Park

MPRB offers facilities to individuals and groups for rental to use for self-directed activities like birthday parties. There are different permit requirements and special use fees, depending on the use. Call or stop by the rec center for more information.

Free Summer Meals for Kids

Folwell Park has participated in the summer meals program, offering children under 18 years old a free weekday dinner. Summer meals run while school is out of session. Please call ahead or check the official website to confirm.
