Folwell Park is one of the largest parks in North Minneapolis. Family friendly amenities include a new playground and tot lot, a wading pool, space for picnics, biking and walking paths and sports courts and fields. There are restroom facilities and a drinking fountain on site. This is one of the parks where MPRB recently installed a Little Free Library.

Folwell Recreation Center

This Community Center is air-conditioned. Families can find a variety of camps, activities, events, and field trips at this location. Indoor amenities include board games, foosball, ping pong and active games. It also has a computer lab.

Folwell Park Wading Pool

After being closed for much of 2018 for repairs, the pool in 2019. Most years, Folwell’s Wading Pool opens Memorial Day weekend and closes on Labor Day. The pool is free to use between the hours 10 am to 9 pm daily. It has spray features similar to a splash pad. There are no lifeguards on duty.

Folwell Park Playground Improvement Project

This park was slated for improvements beginning in Fall of 2019, that included a new play area, relocated athletic field and updated tennis courts. The play area nearest the recreation center was completed in October of 2019. See the picture below. The tennis courts were reopened in early August 2020. The final steps, which include adding lighting to the new field and paths, will be finished during the fall of 2020. Keep up-to-date with improvements here.

Birthday Parties at Folwell Park

MPRB offers facilities to individuals and groups for rental to use for self-directed activities like birthday parties. There are different permit requirements and special use fees, depending on the use. Call or stop by the rec center for more information.

Free Summer Meals for Kids

Folwell Park has participated in the summer meals program, offering children under 18 years old a free weekday dinner. Summer meals run while school is out of session. Please call ahead or check the official website to confirm.
