Eagle Lake Park Wildlife

Although, it is easy to think of Eagle Lake as a golf park, there is plenty of natural area where wildlife can thrive.  In particular, look for:

Wood Ducks

The park is part of the Three Rivers Park District’s Wood Duck Management Program.  Volunteers maintain and monitor wood duck boxes at this and other district parks. Over the last half-century, documented monitoring has shown these efforts have been successful.  According to Three Rivers, the best time to watch wood ducks, swans and other water fowl is in the spring and fall.

Purple Martins

Once common, Purple Martins had disappeared from Three Rivers parks by 1980.  In 2006, Three Rivers set up martin condos in open spaces on the golf course at this park and now has a thriving colony at this location. The best time to see Martins is during the summer, before they migrate to Brazil for the colder months.
