Details:

Eagan Central Park is home to the city's Community Center (which includes The Blast Indoor Playground) and the city's Festival Grounds. The outdoor portion of the park has sports courts and fields, a fitness obstacle course geared more toward older kids and adults, playground equipment for the younger kids. One unique feature of the playground is a set of natural balance beams. There is bandshell for community entertainment that features summer concerts. The new Eagan Splash Pad -- the only splash pad in the city -- resides in Central Park.

7 Ideas for Family Fun at Eagan Central Park

  1. Run the Obstacle Course at the Core Valley Fitness Park
  2. Let the kids play on the playground and take a break.
  3. Cool off in Eagan's only splash pad.
  4. Bring a picnic for an outdoor meal or purchase one at the Wednesday evening farmer's market.
  5. Take stroll on the walking path and cross the bridge into the Gazebo.
  6. Participate in community events and festivals on the festival grounds
  7. Find indoor activity at The Blast Indoor Playground or with Preschool Open Play in the gym.

The Blast Indoor Playground

When the weather is not cooperating for outdoor fun, Eagan Community Center also provides the Blast Indoor Playground. The playground offers indoor play on a space-themed climbing structure, preschool open play times and birthday party options. Find more information at the link.

Eagan Central Park Outdoors

For the active family, the park offers miles of walking trails through beautiful landscaping. The trails are paved and stroller friendly. While walking, families can visit the veterans memorial plaza along these trails.

Wednesday nights during the summer months, Eagan Central Park hosts the city's farmer's market, Market Fest from 4-8pm. Bring the family to shop for fresh produce, enjoy dinner al fresco style, live music and other family-friendly activities.

Eagan Splash Pad

Eagan Splash Pad

Eagan Splash Pad was added in 2018.

Central Park Splash Pad opened the summer of 2018 and has quickly become one of the most popular splash pads in the Twin Cities. This free water play feature has sprays and bubblers for kids to enjoy. It's open from 9am to 8pm daily. The city has splash pad rules on its website. Find it next to the Eagan Festival Grounds Pavillion near the Eagan Community Center.

In Minnesota indoor playgrounds are a necessity! I know we think of outdoors when we think of parks, but with our long, dark and cold winters, some indoor active games are a must. You can even have indoor picnics at these parks. This such a great way to stretch the summer feeling into the winter! Check out some of the best indoor playgrounds in the Twin Cities this winter.

Shakespeare in the Park at Twin Cities Parks

One of my favorite ways to enjoy our parks is with a play or musical in a park. It doesn't really have to be Shakespeare, it can be the latest Disney princess musical or even a puppet wagon. In fact, sometimes Open Eye Figure Theatre's driveway tour has some park stops. Watch our Performing Arts page each summer to find these fun, free park events.

Music in the Parks - Minneapolis, St. Paul & Suburbs

Nothing says easy summertime fun like music in the parks! The best thing is, there is seriously a concert every night of the week from Memorial Day until Labor Day. Obviously, some get cancelled due to weather, but pick any nice night, take a look at the Family Fun Twin Cities calendar and you can find music in a park. No sign up, no tickets, no money, no commitment. Show up, bring a picnic, play at some of the best playgrounds in Minnesota and relax to great music.

Movies in the Parks at Twin Cities Parks

One thing I love about Movies in the Park is that they tend to screen at some of the best playgrounds in Minneapolis and the greater Twin Cities. I love to make it a full evening with a picnic and some fun outdoor kid games and Park Games for Kids. This is a good time to see newer kids movies that you didn't catch in the theater or to introduce your kids to your own childhood favorites without having to gamble on library DVD quality.

Tot Times

Active indoor games for preschoolers are something we are always on the search for when the weather is uncooperative. The parks have a lot to offer with their tot times and open gym slots. For instance, they often offer riding toys, hula hoops, games to play with preschoolers, balls of all kinds, climbing structures, fun games for toddlers, etc.
