Crestwood Park in Eden Prairie has family-friendly amenities that include a playground with standard equipment on a woodchip floor, a bike trail and sports courts. There is also space to picnic, native plants and a Little Free Library. In the winter the city maintains ice rinks for both hockey and leisure skating. The park has a good-sized parking lot for visitors. From April through October, the hockey rink at this park is converted to an off-leash dog area. Note, that this area is only for dogs licensed in Eden Prairie and children under six are not allowed inside the off-leash area. More importantly, parents cannot see the playground from the dog park because they are on opposite sides of the park building. This may not be the best mixed outing for the family dog and kids too small to be at the playground alone. However, if your children don’t mind playing independently, you could feasibly bring a soccer ball for them to kick around in the green space surrounding the dog park. Eden Prairie residents can rent the park building for birthday parties and other private events. The building can accommodate up to 40 guests.
