Located in the Whitter neighborhood of South Minneapolis, Clinton Field Park is a small park with a large, brightly colored playground that dominates the park. While it does not have restrooms on site, it is only a block from the Minneapolis Institute of Art, where you could take an indoor break and take advantage of the family room restrooms. There is no offstreet parking, and parking in this neighborhood can get tight during events. I generally prefer to bus to this neighborhood when possible.

5 Ideas for Family Fun at Clinton Field Park

  1. Come for the playground. It is bright and beautiful with lots of chutes and ladders. Kids will love playing here.
  2. Play a game of HORSE on the half-court basketball court. Bring a basketball.
  3. Grab your volleyball for a game of sand volleyball.
  4. Spread out for lawn games. While the playground absolutely dominates this park, the green space is actually about double the size of the pay area. Bring a playground ball or other lawn games for outdoor activities that take some space.
  5. Make it a day with a visit to the MIA, where you can find restrooms, food and a room full of blocks and other fun toys – not to mention art. Really make it special with tickets to a Children’s Theatre Company performance.
