Audubon Park, in Northeast Minneapolis, features a playground and tot lot as well as a wading pool. The wading pool opens Memorial Day weekend and closes on Labor Day and is free to use between the hours 10 am to 9 pm daily. There are no lifeguards on duty. The recreation center has public restrooms and water fountains. Audubon offers plenty of green space for running. It has a small valley that would make good kite-flying ground. The slope into the valley is perfect for rolling down. This is also where they have shown movies in the past. There is space for a picnic or cookout. The park is close to the Audubon neighborhood shopping district. Audubon Coffee Shop, Hazel’s Restaurant, Parkway Pizza, and Sarah Jane’s Bakery are all within walking distance. Audubon Recreation Center’s indoor amenities include drop-in use of board games, computer lab, foosball and billiards. Audubon Park has participated in the summer meals program. Children under 18 can get a free lunch between noon and 1 p.m. during the summer. Typically, the program runs from mid-June to mid-August. Please all ahead or check the park website to confirm this program.Related Articles
