Columbia Park, best known for its sledding hill, is on the northern border of Minneapolis next to Columbia Heights. Families can also find a playground, an archery range, foot golf and paved paths. There is also a picnic area and grill. In the winter, look for a Cross-Country Ski Trail. This park has one picnic shelters available to rent for birthdays and other events. It will hold up to 200 people and is available between April 15th and October 15th. Permits are available by the half day (9-3 or 4-10) or for a full day. Reservations can be obtained by calling 612-230-6400 during business hours, online or in person. A half-day rental is $125 and full day is $250. This park has one of Minneapolis Park’s suggested sledding hills. It is a steeper slope and a longer climb. It is a good hill for older kids, but you may want to find a less steep slope for your toddlers. This park has a cross-country ski trail. You will need your own equipment. Note that all Minneapolis Park ski trails require a Ski Trail Pass through the Loppet Foundation (separate from the MN DNR’s ski pass). Find up-to-date pass prices and information here. If you would prefer to cross-country ski for FREE , we recommend Como Regional Park in St Paul. The archery range is across Columbia golf just west of Central Ave on St. Anthony Parkway. It is run on a first-come, first served basis and patrons must bring their own equipment and targets. Hay bales are provided. Click here to find more local archery ranges.
