Who doesn’t appreciate a whole lot of FREE right before the holidays? We’ve gathered up our traditional list of free family activities in the parks, free art events & more free ways to entertain the family in the Twin Cities throughout the month of November.

Free Family Fun - Register Ahead

These November events are free, but require pre-registration and sometimes fill up or sell out:

Rumriver Art Center, 2665 4th Avenue, Anoka, MN
Participate in a free art class for the whole family. Best for ages 4+. Rumriver Art Center’s monthly Free Family Art Days have limited space and can fill up quickly. November 18, 2023, 10am-11am. Register here.

Red Balloon Bookshop Author Events

Most author events at the Red Balloon are FREE, but require advanced registration. November events include:

  • Nov 5th @ 2pm: Author Christina Soontornvat with special guest Anne Ursu share Soontornvat’s latest book: TIME AFTER TIME: BEST WISHES #3 
  • Nov 8th @ 6pm. Author Andrea Beaty shares LILA GREER, TEACHER OF THE YEAR
  • Nov 16th @ 6:30pm. Author Matthew Schufman launches his book, FRASER THE FOREST RANGER 

 

 

Family Fun Splurges: $20/pp and Up

Hibernation Heyday in Clay

Silverwood Park, 2500 County Rd E, St Anthony, MN 55421
Participants will create unique pieces in clay with a cozy winter theme! Families can work together and learn basic clay hand-building and surface design skills to create winter-inspired ceramics to use as gifts or keep for yourself. No experience necessary. Both session dates demonstrate the same. Ages 7+ with an adult. Cost $25. Registration Required: November 2, 2023, 6-8pm or November 4, 2023, 10am-12pm.
