FFTC wishes you all the best in the new year ahead! We look forward to helping you create memories with your families in 2024.  To start out, we’ve rounded up a lineup of all-ages New Years Eve events celebrating  simultaneously this weekend. Note that these events, for the most part, wrap up by early evening so grown ups can get kids tucked in and carry on as they will. ROSEVILLE: New Years Eve on Ice at the OVAL

New Year’s Eve activities will include skating or open hockey on the outdoor OVAL rink, indoor skating, a bounce house and magician. All ages fun! December 31, 2023, 2-9pm. $10/admission, $5/skate rental.

SHOREVIEW: New Year’s Eve Party

Shoreview Community Center, 4580 Victoria Street North, Shoreview, MN 55126
Kiddos can bounce to their heart’s content on inflatables, swim at the indoor waterpark, run all over the indoor playground, get their face painted, play bingo and make crafts. Event capped at 250 people. December 31, 2023, 5-8pm. $12/pp.

ST ANTHONY: New Year’s Eve Family Ice Fishing at Silverwood Park

2500 County Rd E, St Anthony, MN 55421
Groups of 2-6 people will be provided with a shelter, sled, bait, auger, and rods plus instructions and tips before heading out to fish. Ages 10+, please, and registration is required. December 31, 2023, 12-3pm. $50/group.

Time to bid farewell to most of the holiday lights, folks. The majority of venues hit the switch following New Years weekend so LIGHT IT UP, TWIN CITIES while you can! Some brilliant examples in the Northeast Metro include:

Wintertime in Stillwater Lights Display

Chestnut Street in historic downtown Stillwater transforms into a winter wonderland during December. Last year, our family visited the free LED light show set to music one magical Friday night and had the whole street to ourselves! Come see for yourself while exploring the downtown shops and spots to grab dinner. December 2023 – February 2024, 5-10pm nightly.

LAKE ELMO: Valley Lights at Rockpoint Church

FINAL WEEKEND! We finally got out to the this short but sweet (and FREE!) drive-thru light show. You can listen to the music on your phone while winding through over 100,000 LED lights. Now thru December 31, 2023, 5-10pm.

MINI ROAD TRIP: Miracle at Big Rock

FINAL WEEKEND! Just over the border into our neighbor Wisconsin lies paths dressed with Christmas lights, tasty treats and beverages, visits with Santa, a sledding hill and fireworks every Friday evening. Book tickets online to save $5/pp (adults). Open daily through December 31, 2023. Weekend hours: Sat 4-10pm and Sun 4-9pm. $15/kids, $20/adults (online) or $25/door.

Winter Break Fundays at Battle Creek Recreation Area

Meet at the winter recreation area of the park to try your hand (or feet) at cross-country skiing or kicksledding for free. Not a flake from the sky yet? Battle Creek manufactures snow! Check out your equipment at the rec center. December 30 & 31, 2023, 2-4pm. CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER.

Snow tubing in the Twin Cities Northeast Metro

Family Fun Twin Cities is happily into its tenth year conspiring to bring you the best ideas for family activities in town — and we now have several teenagers on our team. They’ve moved away from bunny sledding hills and requested something more on the thrilling side. Our solution was a roundup of the best spots to snow tube in the Twin Cities – a couple of which are located northeast of Minneapolis & St Paul. Both of these spots manufacture snow so they’re able to operate even when mother nature doesn’t COoperate:

Tuck in for the rest of winter break

For many families (particularly those inclined to consult this website), this weekend is part of a lovely string of vacation days from school. Many of us are also taking a break from regularly-scheduled extracurricular activities as well.
