When we become parents, sometimes we have to compromise our entertainment choices for things like, um feeding our kids and stuff. Most of the things we highlight on Family Fun Twin Cities takes into account that we don’t have unlimited entertainment budgets. It’s nice to dream though.
Speaking of unlimited entertainment budgets, getting out on a date with the love of your life becomes more difficult once kids show up, too. The going rate for babysitters in the Twin Cities is $10-$12/hour. Once you pay a babysitter for 4 hours, pay a cover charge and get a drink or two and maybe a sandwich, even going out to see a local band starts to costs the same as a week’s groceries. We’ve decided to add a date night item to our Wish List when we can. We love our kids and want to spend as much time as possible with them, but sometimes, you just want to hang out with their dad.
Friday – Date Night:register online
There is no rule that you can’t take your kids to this, but I think it sounds like a great date night. Learn about superstitions of Victorian society. and hear excerpts from Ramsey family letters and journals . The you can participate in fortune telling games in the parlor. This is tonight and reservations are required,. If it interests you, hurry up and register and then call your babysitter.
This week at HOBT, the Cuban story off Martina the Cockroach will be told. I think 11:00 a.m. is the perfect time for a family outing. Not too early but you can still be done and hit the errands by noon.
I was going to justify all my ice-skating posts by saying that you can only do it for a few weeks a year, but actually this Ice Arena is a year-round arena. However, this is the time of year to get out and skate. It makes winter a little more bearable to enjoy the weather a little. Sometimes its nice to enjoy the weather indoors. 🙂
