The free list has a little something for everyone this week.  Whether you feel like dancing, taking in a short film or eight, experiencing another culture or hanging with your family dog.  If you still want more, check out our calendars or maybe you would prefer a laid-back library visit for your weekend outing — Ruhama, our resident children’s library, has some suggestions for good pairings of new and classic books.

Hennepin County Library – Minneapolis Central, 300 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN

My kids (2, 4 & 9) helped me preview all the short films being shown by Childish Films on Saturday.  They loved them all and I didn’t have a problem with getting any of them to sit still except while I was searching for the next film.  Our favorite by far was Animal Beat Box.  Show up early to get a good seat and enjoy the music of Duke Otherwise. Doors open at 10 am for seating, snacks, and hands-on activities. Live pre-show performances begin at 10:30 am.   Anne’s has written about Childish Films here.

Besides Family Fun Twin Cities, I spend my 9 to 5 at a day job pursuing my weird passion for calendars and organizing things as a legal secretary. When I get home I spend my time with my four kids, 10, 6, 4 and 1. My amazing husband is both a full-time musician and full-time stay-at-home dad. Together we run a small radio empire — SiaNet Radio — playing, promoting and enjoying the wide variety of local music and art in the Twin Cities. I juggle all this while writing about exploring the Twin Cities with kids. I couldn’t be happier.
