Try Hockey For Free Day
Various arenas around the country
Saturday, November 4, 2017; FREE!

On the fence about making the investment to put your kid in hockey? I understand. I’ve been there myself. And I highly recommend you give the sport a try for free on Saturday, November 4th as part of Come Play Hockey Month. The event gives kids (ages 4-9)  a shot at experiencing the basics of hockey without financial commitment. It’s strictly for fun! Plus, coaches will be on hand to offer tips and provide equipment.

Participating locations change from year to year, but you can type in your zip code and find the closest arena here. All locations will have limited equipment available for use.

Who knows? This might be the beginning of a lifelong love of hockey. It certainly helps us get through our long Minnesota winters!

If your kids aren’t quite ready for hockey, but want to skate this winter, we have compiled a list for you at Skate the Twin Cities: Where To Find Free Outdoor Ice Rinks.

Pumpkin Express Train by Minnesota Transportation Museum

I have some train lovers in my family (I think I’ve mentioned this) and for them, Minnesota Transportation Museum‘s Pumpkin Express Train would be the perfect Halloween Event. Just choose a day from Friday, October 20 through Sunday, October 22, 2017 (MEA Weekend). Starting in Osceola, Wisconsin, the train ends up in Dresser, Wisconsin. You can make it an all day event or go for a couple of hours. If I know my family, and I do, if we make it on the Pumpkin Express Train, we will be there all day. But hurry and buy your tickets soon. This is a sell out event!
