THIS RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE FUNDRAISING EVENT IS PAST
What does Family Fun Twin Cities like more than a good cause and local business? Not much and here is a way to enjoy both.
I have heard about the Ronald McDonald House since I was a little kid. While I thought it was a wonderful idea, the charity has never touched my life until this past summer. My niece was born in North Carolina severly anemic and needed to be hospitalized for a week a fter having a blood transfusion. While most families get to take their babies home after a couple of days, Carissa and Bryan did not have that luxury. They needed to stay close to the hospital to be with their baby in the first week of her life.
They were directed to stay at a Ronald McDonald House near the hospital where they were well cared for with a soft bed, meals to eat, a common room to relax, and no reason to be concerned about finances. The RM House asks for $10/night but will not turn anyone away if they are unable to pay.
Knowing that my sister-in-law and brother-in-law were being well taken care of even though they were miles away helped me to relax.
On Wednesday evening, October 15, Red Balloon Bookshop is hosting an event called Books for a Cause. From 6:30-8:00 p.m. there will be light snacks, good books and a storytime with the two Ronald McDonald House School Teachers–Cindy and Laurie. Also 20% of the proceeds from purchases made will used for the K-12 accredited school that serves patients and siblings of the Ronald McDonald House.
Family Fun Twin Cities will be there, stopping by to support such a great cause!
